FIRST, For Inspiration and Recognition of Science Technology, was founded in 1989 by Dean Kamen with the purpose of inspiring young peoples interest in science technology. Providing a great environment for students to chase their passion for the sciences, FIRST instills the ideas of gracious professionalism and cooperation with field experts to support learning. FIRST does this while striving to maintain a high quality of work ethics, good values, and respect for the community working closely with research and academic organizations that provide evidence of impact on students educations and career choices. Having close alliances with many notorious associations like MIT alumni association and girl scouts (just two of many), FIRST is an extremely positive environment to help further ones learning and hopefully provide a future in science that can be useful in many different career choices. Also providing many scholarships from supportive donors, FIRST makes it easy to further any young person’s career.
