Build Season: Day 38

The rings for the robot have now all been glued one, and we also have the motor brackets made for the bane bots. The turret motor was mounted as well that is going to be geared with the lazy susan and make the shooter rotate. The robot is very nearly done, we mostly have details with the shooter and the arm that will bring the bridge down.

Build Season: Day 37

We glued on the rings to one roller, but unfortunately we ran out of super glue, so we’ll finish them tomorrow at school. We also replaced the shafts for the rollers since they were threaded, instead getting solid ones since they are stronger. Just like last week, the meeting couldn’t be as long as usual because we had to move back our robot and other materials back to Parkville.

Build Season: Day 36

Today we mounted one of the electronics board, the higher horizontal one. We also finished the rings that will go on the rollers to keep the belts evenly spaced. They will be glued on tomorrow. And we also finally got the belt system to work completely, earlier the front lower one wouldn’t put enough compression on the ball and wasn’t low enough to lift it – but with adding wire ties the basketball gets picked up and goes all the way up to the shooter.

Build Season: Day 34

Once we distributed the load from the belts equally across the rollers, the shafts didn’t bend, so that problem is solved. We have fabricated most of our shooter and turret over today and also Tuesday. What’s left is getting the right hubs for the shaft and also the cover for the wheel so well – we don’t have a shredded ball everytime we try to shoot one.

Build Season: Day 32

Today we created new belts for the system, with 10% stretch instead of 20%. They still bend the shafts for the rollers a bit from the load but we should be able to put some brackets on to keep the rollers in place and also keep spinning. The programming team has begun programming sensors. The coding is getting there, but unfortunately until the robot is done(hopefully this weekend) there won’t be a reasonable amount of testing to see if it works.
